This monument marks the site of a stone where Wallace stood to watch the approach of the English before the Battle of Falkirk in 1298. The original stone was chipped away by souvenir hunters over the years. The battle was fought at Woodend Farm, which can be seen from this spot. There is a panoramic view over the Forth Valley from the monument.
